Make crochet bikini more elastic.

Hi, everyone.

Today I want to show you one of my trick that I use to make my swimsuits more elastic.

How I said before I use only special elastic yarn for my crochet bathing suits. So, in this way I already have my swimsuits elastic and better quality than pure cotton swimsuits. But we can make it even more elastic. Why do we need it? It makes your swimsuit more comfortable, adjusts it better to your body.

So, what to do for make crochet bikini more elastic?

In this case I use additional nylon thread that I crochet in the lateral parts of bottom or in the part of the bra, but normally we want more adjust in the part of panties. This thread looks like this:

If you can’t find nylon thread like this in your town, you always can buy it on Ebay, for example, but I don’t think that is difficult to find.

So… Let’s pass to practice!

When we have almost ready  the bottom of our swimsuit, like on the picture:

we need to take this special nylon thread and crochet with it one row at the lateral parts of our work, like on the photos:

I suggest you to use nylon thread of the same color to hide it better, but I haven’t nylon thread of turquoise color, so I used white one.

On the photo you can see that the panties now are very elastic that’s because of our manipulations with elastic thread. And now we need to hide our additional thread. With the common yarn we need to crochet over all borders.

And here we have very nice and very elastic result.

I hope this information was helpful and interesting for you.

See you soon.

Olga.

I have been scouring the internet looking for a solution to make my bottoms stretchy/elasticized. Thank you, this helps so much. However, I use acrylic yarn for pretty much everything. Would it still work or does it have to be a certain kind of yarn for swimsuits? I have a limited budget so I try to get the cheapest yarn I can. Thanks. (:

    Hi,

What size nylon thread is this? I found some but they had lots of sizes like 0.1, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, etc…
